
Dublanko Headlines the Elks' 2024 Draft

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Elks made nine picks in the 2024 CFL Draft on Tuesday.
FIRST ROUND, NO. 1 OVERALL: Joel Dublanko (LB)
Dublanko spent the 2023 season with the Philadelphia Stars in the USFL, appearing in seven games, totaling 27 total tackles.
"We are excited to have a player of Joel's calibre in our building. High football IQ, leadership, a winner and a high character individual is what we're getting," says Elks assistant general manager Geroy Simon.
Dublanko played five seasons for the Cincinnati Bearcats (2017-21), where he earned All-AAC First Team honours as a graduate student in 2021. He also served as a team captain and led the team with 113 tackles in his final season. In 63 career games for the Bearcats, the Aberdeen, Wash., native finished with 233 total tackles, 22 tackles-for-loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception and three forced fumbles. Dublanko was also a part of Cincinnati's back-to-back American Athletic Conference championships in 2020 and 2021.
SECOND ROUND, NO. 10 OVERALL: D.K. Bonhomme (LB)
Bonhome appeared in three games for the University of South Alabama in 2022, where he registered six tackles. Prior to joining South Alabama, the six-foot-three linebacker totalled 17 tackles, two tackles-for-loss and one sack in 24 career games for the Hoosiers.
Bonhomme was born in Haiti and moved to Canada when he was five years old.
SECOND ROUND, NO. 18 OVERALL: Bradley Hladik (FB)
Over four seasons at UBC (2019, 2021-23), Hladik totalled 12 receptions for 119 yards and one touchdown in 31 games. The Vernon, B.C., native played mostly special teams and was UBC's primary long snapper last season, helping the Thunderbirds reach the 2023 Vanier Cup.
Bradley joins his big brother Ben in the CFL, who has played 50 career games with BC Lions after being selected 22nd overall in the 2021 CFL Draft.
THIRD ROUND, NO. 21 OVERALL: Olivier Muembi (LB)
Olivier played at Queens University in 2023, where he racked up 50 total tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack in 10 games for the Gaels. His 36 tackles in the regular season, tied for the team lead and 13th in the OUA. The Hamilton, ON., native spent four seasons at Delaware State from 2018 to 2021.
FOURTH ROUND, NO. 30 OVERALL: Jaxon Morkin (OL)
The Windsor product suited up in 28 games over the last four seasons for the University of Windsor (2019, 2021-23). In the 2023 East-West Bowl in Hamilton, Morkin put up 28 reps of the 225-pound bench press weight to finish second behind defensive lineman Mitch Price.
FOURTH ROUND, NO. 31 OVERALL: Vincent Blanchard (K)
Vincent played 29 games for Laval, where he connected on 53-of-71 field goals, while being named a second-team All-Canadian last season after posting a 94 percent mark on field goals. The 25-year-old kicker helped Laval capture the Vanier Cup in 2022.
SEVENTH ROUND, NO. 57 OVERALL: Evan Anseeuw
A six-foot-three native of Walsingham, Ont., Anseeuw appeared in 19 games for York University (2019-23). As a rookie he started all eight games for Lions, including five at right tackle and three at left guard.
SEVENTH ROUND, NO. 63 OVERALL: Patrick Lavoie
Lavoie started seven games for the Ravens in 2023. He attended the 2023 U SPORTS East-West Bowl in Hamilton, Ontario and was the 2019 Ravens Rookie of the Year.
EIGHTH ROUND, NO. 68 OVERALL: Jacob Spencer (DL)
Jacob spent three seasons at Saginaw Valley State (2021-23). In 23 games for the Cardinals, Spencer racked up 25 total tackles, 5.5 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks. The defensive lineman previously played at Grand Valley State University and was named to U-18 Canadian National Team in 2016.

2024 marks the 75th season of pro football in Edmonton, as the Elks open a new CFL campaign on Saturday, June 8 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium. Season tickets are available now, with all youth season tickets $75 (17 and under) and adult tickets starting at $175.
