Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
Corpus Christi- The Corpus Christi IceRays of the Central Hockey League are proud to announce their participation in this year's "Drop Everything and Read" day in the Corpus Christi Independent School District. IceRay players will be reading to students on Friday, November 22nd at Club Estates Elementary (5222 Merganser) and Prescott Elementary (1945 Golihar) from 1:30pm-2:30pm.
"I can think of no better role model than sports figures to inspire and encourage students to read and do their best in school," said Vivian Cantu, librarian at Club Estates Elementary.
The CCISD holds "Drop Everything and Read" in November during Children's Book Week. All schools within the district are asked to stop what they are doing and read. Many schools invite guests from the community to involve other adults in helping students to understand the importance of reading in all professions. This year's theme is "Free to Read."
Forward Kenny Goetz and Goaltender Eddy Skazyk will be among the IceRays represented.
