Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive missed out on the win for the second time of the series with the Rome Braves. The Braves outplayed the home team with a final score of 11-6.
Tonight, was one for the bats for both dugouts, but Rome was the first to strike in the second with a Christian Robison RBI.
Brandon Howlett answered with a homer that brought Jaxx Groshans home with him.
The game appeared slow until Rome added some gas to the fire and dropped seven runs in the fifth inning. Tyler Tolve's two-run RBI single started the series of batters coming across the dish and was followed by a Bryson Horne RBI. Beau Philip then came to bat and brought Tolve home. Robison hit his second RBI of the night bringing home Horne and Philip. Robison then came home himself off the bat of Jacob Pearson.
The Drive bats were silent, but Rome carried on scoring 2 in the sixth thanks to RBIs from Horne and Philip.
The Drive bats finally heated up in the sixth. Matthew Lugo came home thanks to Jaxx Groshans taking a stroll to first. The Drive batters were like a mary-go-round the whole inning. Howlett, Gilberto Jimenez, and Groshans all walked across home plate thanks to LHP Lisandro Santos giving Drive batters a pass to first.
The Braves tacked on the final run off a wild pitch in the eighth inning to complete their second win at Fluor Field.
The Drive continues the series with the Braves tomorrow at 7:05.
