Greenville, SC - The GreenJackets (50-20, 34-26) could not complete the sweep of the Greenville Drive (29-40, 26-32) on Thursday night losing the final game of their seven game road trip, 5-3. Reliever Adam Ortiz suffered the loss and his first blown save as the Drive rallied back in the seventh inning for the win and connected for two home runs off of Ortiz.
With Augusta leading 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning Drive catcher Paul Smyth hit a three-run homer with one out in the frame to give Greenville a 3-2 lead. The Drive added another run in the half inning when Aaron Reza scored from third on a fielding error from second baseman Brad Boyer for a 4-2 advantage and Greenville sent all nine batters to the plate in the frame.
The Drive added another run in the eighth inning when Josh Reddick connected for a two-out solo homer to right-center field.
Ortiz (0-1) worked two innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits while walking one and striking out one.
Augusta got one run back in the ninth inning on a two-out RBI single from Juan Jean scoring Barry Gunther from second base but that's all the GreenJackets would get.
