EASTLAKE, OH-Lucas Montero tripled in two runs in the 3rd inning and Lake County took the lead and never looked back in a 5-2 win over the BlueClaws on Thursday night.

The Captains (28-28) take the rubber game from Lakewood (29-28) after the BlueClaws won the middle game the night before.

The BlueClaws put two on with nobody out in the 9th but Luis Perdomo struck out Welinson Baez and Quintin Berry grounded into a game ending 5-4-3 double play to end the series.

Lakewood out-hit Lake County in all three games but lost two of three. In this game, they left eight total and runners on base in six of the final seven innings.

Montero's triple gave the Captains a 2-0 lead and they added a run on a Dustin Realini RBI double in the 4th off of BlueClaws starter Scott Mitchinson.

Lakewood then got a two-run double by Joel Naughton in the 5th off of Jeanmar Gomez to cut the lead to one, but Naughton was left on base and Lake County got a run without a hit in the 6th.

Those would be the only Lakewood runs off of Gomez (10-8), who lasted six and gave up two runs. He had a 9.42 ERA over his three August starts prior to tonight.

A Fidel Hernandez error and two Mitchinson walks loaded the bases with nobody out before Mitchinson got a pair of strikeouts. But he walked Brian Juhl on a 3- 2 pitch to plate a run and extend the Captains' lead to 4- 2.

Three of the four runs charged to Mitchinson (2-2) were earned, and the right-hander lasted 5 2/3 and took the loss. He struck out a season-high nine. Matt German allowed a run in the 7th.

Michael Pontius tossed shutout innings in the 7th and 8th and Perdomo picked up his 10th save.

The BlueClaws return home on Friday for a two-game series with Hagerstown (Nationals). RHP Carlos Monasterios (10-10) throws the opener for Lakewood against RHP Jeff Mandel (3-6). Fireworks follow the game thanks to Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood.
