RiverDogs Shut Out Drive 1-0 on Saturday

Sexton hurls six quality innings in defeat

Charleston, SC - Pitching reigned supreme once again in Charleston on Saturday night, and a seventh-inning single gave the Charleston RiverDogs a 1-0 victory over the Greenville Drive.

Freicer Perez and Robby Sexton (0-5) exchanged zeroes for six innings, with Sexton taking a no-hitter into the sixth, but the RiverDogs (25-23) led off the seventh with a double by Angel Aguilar to chase Sexton from the game. Later in the inning, Ben Ruta delivered an RBI single to put the run on the board.

Perez was relieved by Christian Morris (2-1), who held the Drive (29-18) hitless over the seventh and eighth to get the win. Trevor Lane earned his first save by preserving the shutout in the final frame.

Sexton received the tough-luck loss despite being charged with just the one run over six innings while allowing two hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

The series finale begins at 5:05 PM on Sunday in Charleston. Left-hander Jhonathan Diaz makes his season debut for the Drive on the mound, and the RiverDogs will start left-hander Phillip Diehl (5-0, 2.70).
