Rochester Knighthawks News Release

Former Rochester Knighthawks standout Chris Driscoll has been named the head coach of the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves Junior "A" Lacrosse Club. Driscoll played seven of his 19 seasons in Rochester and is in his fourth year as the team's Ontario Scout.

"It's going to be a great experience for me and a learning experience," he said. "It is a challenge I am looking forward to . "

This past season, Driscoll served as an assistant coach with the Brampton Excelsiors' Junior "A" club, working under Head Coach Dan Teat. Brampton finished one game behind the first-place Six Nations Arrows and advanced to the Ontario Semifinals. The experience prepared Driscoll for his new role in Kitchener.

"It was a good experience for me," he said. "It gave me more knowledge of the players and what it takes to win at that level."

Driscoll returns to Kitchener, where he played four seasons of Junior "A" ball. The 43-year-old eventually played in the National Lacrosse League and had an incredible 19-year run. In his professional career, he notched over 600 points, 1,035 loose balls and won three championships along the way: 1997, 2003 and 2005.

It was in Rochester where he won his first championship in 1997. Driscoll had one goal and two assists as the Knighthawks defeated the Buffalo Bandits 15-12 at Marine Midland Arena. Driscoll played seven seasons in Rochester and notched 198 points. The Fergus, Ontario native continued to have success with the Toronto Rock (2003-09). In 2003, he earned the National Lacrosse League Sportsmanship Award and won the first of two NLL championships in three seasons with the Rock. In 2010, Driscoll returned to the Knighthawks, where he played the final two seasons of his professional career. He has spent the past three seasons as Rochester's Ontario Scout, earning three straight Champion's Cups in the process.

Driscoll, who works as the technical director for the Ontario Lacrosse Association, has bulked up his coaching resume, as well. Over the past three seasons, he has worked as the head coach of the Team Ontario Bantam and Midget teams. For the past two seasons, he has also coached the Junior Knighthawks Midget team. In 2014, he led the team to a first-place finish in the NLL's premier youth tournament. Driscoll is now ready for his next opportunity in the lacrosse world.

"It was tough to leave Brampton," he said, "but a head coaching job is really going to help my career. It's my first head coaching gig in the Junior 'A' loop. "
