Drillers RB Hayes named NIFL Offensive Player of the Week

BEAUMONT, TX -- Beaumont Drillers running back Roland Hayes was named the NIFL Offensive Player of the Week for the week of March 21.

Hayes ran for 142 yards on 22 carries and scored five touchdowns, which included a 31-yard score, to help led the Drillers to a 55-49 win over Arkansas on March 18 in Beaumont.

Hayes is first in the NIFL in rushing yards (165) and first in the league in rushing touchdowns (6).

The 5-11, 185-pound Houston Madison product played collegiate football at Alabama A&M.

The Drillers were off Week 3 and will next host the Katy Copperheads (1-1) on April 1 at Ford Arena at 7:05 p.m. The Drillers are encouraging all fans to bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the next two home games to participate in the promotion "Bear the Burden" with Buckner Children and Familey Services.

Fans can also purchase a stuffed animal at the game from Buckner Children and Family Services. At halftime, fans will throw their stuffed animals on the field and all will be collected and delievered to Buckner. Buckner Children and Family Services is one of the oldest child care organizations in the United States. We have been caring for children and their families since 1879 when Buckner Orphans Home opened its doors in a log cabin with three orphans.
