Drillers open season April 5

The Tulsa Drillers will open the 2007 Texas League season on Thursday, April 5 by hosting the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres) at Drillers Stadium. Game time for the season opener is set for 7:05PM.

The opening homestand for the Drillers will consist of six games, including three games against the Missions followed by another 3-game set against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros). The initial homestand will run through Tuesday, April 10.

The first two games have been designated Opening Nights I and II. Fans can obtain free general admission tickets for both games from any sponsor of Drillers Baseball. Sponsors include QuikTrip, Arvest Bank, Arby's, Mazzio's and Spirit Bank. In addition, 2007 Schedule Magnets will be given out during the first two games, and Myron Noodleman will entertain fans at Thursday's opener.

Other highlights of the first homestand include 50 Cent Hot Dogs and Bring Your Dog to the stadium on Saturday, April 7 and Kids Eat Free Sunday on Sunday, April 8. The homestand will conclude with the first weekday, day game on Tuesday, April 10 (12:05PM).

The Drillers have been successful in recent home openers, winning seven of the past ten opening games. The Drillers produced one of the more memorable openers in Tulsa baseball history last year, defeating Wichita 9-8 on Alvin Colina's walk-off home run in the bottom of the 16th inning. Overall, the Drillers have won seven straight season openers.

NOTE: Owner Went Hubbard and pitcher Kenny Rogers will be inducted in the Crown Bristow-Drillers Wall of Fame before Thursday's game. Hubbard purchased the Drillers in December of 1986 and was instrumental in the expansion and remodeling of Drillers Stadium. Rogers spent parts of three seasons in Tulsa, winning the Texas League Championship clinching game in 1988. He is currently a member of the American League Champion Detroit Tigers.

The Drillers begin the 2007 season by hosting the San Antonio Missions! Fans can obtain free general admission tickets for the game from any sponsor of Drillers Baseball, including most QuikTrip, Mazzio's and Arby's locations.

WALL OF FAME CEREMONY & PRINTS.

Special ceremonies before the game will induct the two newest members into the Drillers Wall of Fame. Owner Went Hubbard and pitcher Kenny Rogers will be this year's inductees. The first 1,000 fans will receive special 8" x 10" prints of the Hubbard and Rogers drawings that will be displayed on the Wall of Fame. It is all presented by Henry Primeaux's Crown Bristow.

MYRON NOODLEMAN!

Tulsa's own Myron Noodleman makes his first appearance of the season at Drillers Stadium compliments of Cherokee Casino and 97.5 KMOD.

BIRDZERK PERFORMS!

One of the funniest mascots in sports, Birdzerk, brings his hilarious act to Drillers Stadium courtesy of Cherokee Casino and 97.5 KMOD. This bright-colored bird will bring out the laughter in fans of all ages!

50 CENT HOT DOGS & BARK IN THE PARK.

It's a doubleheader of dogs at Drillers Stadium! First, the delicious Drillers Stadium Hot Dogs will be on sale throughout the evening for only 50 cents each, and, secondly, fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game. It is all courtesy of PETCO, The Humane Society of Tulsa and K95.5 FM. There will be a parade for the dogs starting at 6:15PM, and the Humane Society will have special displays and information on the stadium concourse. Free tickets for your dog are available from Petco, VCA Animal Hospitals and from the Tulsa Humane Society.

Sunday, April 8.........................vs. Corpus Christi Hooks (4:05PM)

KIDS EAT FREE SUNDAY.

Every Sunday game at Drillers Stadium this season is a Kids Eat Free Day courtesy of the Tulsa Area Chevrolet Dealers, Borden Dairy and the Tulsa World! Kids, 14 and under, who enter with a paid admission will receive a coupon redeemable for a free hot dog, ice cream and milk.

FREE KANSAS CITY ROYALS TICKETS & AN EASTER EGG HUNT.

The first 500 fans will receive coupons that are redeemable for a free ticket to any Kansas City Royals home game during the month of April at beautiful Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. In addition, there will be a free Easter Egg Hunt for kids beginning at 3:30PM. Other activities will include free face painting and balloon characters. It is all presented by the Kansas City Royals, the Drillers and Spirit 102.3!

FAMILY DAY.

Fans can get discounted admission for all of their immediate family members courtesy of 94.1 The Sound and the Tulsa World. Coupons that provide a $2.00 discount on each ticket purchased are available in the Sunday Sports section of the Tulsa World.

LADIES NIGHT.

Ladies will be treated special at every Monday night game at Drillers Stadium this season. The first 1,000 ladies will receive coupons that will allow them to receive discounts on selected food and beverage items at the stadium. In addition, all ladies can take advantage of the free massages and nail care services that will be offered.

GROW YOUR OWN BAT TREE GIVEAWAY.

Fans can start growing their own bats compliments of The M.E.T. Fans, as they exit the stadium, will receive a free sapling from The M.E.T. to take home and plant!
