
Drillers Fall in Finale

One night after setting a season high in hits and runs scored, the Tulsa Drillers' offense was slowed down Tuesday night by San Antonio's Cesar Castillo. Castillo surrendered only four hits and one run as the Missions defeated the Drillers 7-3 at Drillers Stadium.
The loss ended a 6-game homestand for the Drillers in which they went 3-3.
The Missions jumped on top early Tuesday with a run in the top of the first inning off Tulsa starter Keith Weiser. Luis Durango singled and moved to third on a double by Eric Sogard. After Logan Forsythe walked to load the bases, Durango scored the game's first run on a ground out by Brian Joynt.
The Missions extended their lead with a pair of runs in the third. Lance Zawadzki homered to left field to make it 2-0. Forsythe and Cedric Hunter followed with singles in front of a run-scoring double by Mitch Canham that increased the margin to three runs.
Joynt added a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to put San Antonio up 5-0.
Two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning allowed the Drillers to cut the lead to 5-2. Rex Rundgren produced the first run with his first home run of the season, a solo shot into the net in left-center field. After the homer, Daniel Mayora walked and eventually scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Danny Sandoval.
In the top of the seventh, the Missions' Forsythe hit a two-run homer to put the game away.
Tulsa closed the scoring with a run in the bottom of the ninth as Darin Holcomb doubled before scoring on Ryan Harvey's ground out. The hit by Holcomb extended his hitting streak to nine straight games.
Weiser (5-9) took the loss, surrendering eight hits and four earned runs in five innings.
The Drillers will now take a day off before they head to North Little Rock to open a four-game series against the Arkansas Travelers on Thursday. Tulsa's Jhoulys Chacin (7-6, 3.43 ERA) will start against Trevor Reckling (5-2, 2.56 ERA) of Arkansas in the opener.
NOTES: Holcomb is now hitting .486 (16-35) during his nine-game streak. . . Anthony Jackson singled in the bottom of the eighth as a pinch-hitter to extend his streak to five straight games. . . Tulsa was out-hit in the game 14-7.
