Tulsa Drillers News Release

The Tulsa Drillers and the Colorado Rockies announced today that the Drillers entire coaching staff would return for the 2004 baseball season.

Pitching Coach Bo McLaughlin and Hitting Coach Darron Cox will both return to their positions in Tulsa next season. The two coaches will be working with a new manager in 2004, as Drillers manager Marv Foley has been named the new manager for the Triple A Colorado Sky Sox by the Rockies.

The Drillers and Rockies also announced that Strength Coach Matt Frazier would return to his position in Tulsa next season.

The staff will be completed later this month or early in January with the naming of a new manager and trainer. Several candidates are currently being considered for the managerial post.

For McLaughlin, it will be his second season with the Drillers and the Rockies. Last season, he led a Drillers pitching staff that finished with a 3.85 team ERA, the second best mark in the Texas League.

In his career, McLaughlin had coached in the minor league systems of the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos and Baltimore Orioles before joining the Rockies organization last season. As a pitcher, he spent parts of six seasons in the Major Leagues, compiling a 10-20 record and a 3.73 ERA in 156 games with the Astros (1976-1979), Braves (1979) and Athletics (1981-1982).

Cox joined the Drillers early in the regular season last year after beginning the year as a coach with the Asheville Tourists in the Rockies system. He began his coaching career in 2002 as the manager of Colorado's Rookie League team in Casper, Wyoming.

Cox enjoyed a 13-year professional playing career and spent part of the 1999 season in the Major Leagues with the Montreal Expos. He played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma and was named the Big 8 Conference Player of the Year in 1989.

For Frazier, it will also be his second season with the Drillers. Frazier is a resident of Tulsa and is the son of Rockies television announcer George Frazier.
