March 26, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

An interception by DaShane Dennis with 30 seconds remaining preserved the Dragons' 56-55 win before 14,195 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus tonight. The Dragons improved their record to 6-2, while Columbus falls to 1-7.

"Despite their record, we knew this was going to be a tough game for four quarters and that's exactly what happened," said Dragons QB Aaron Garcia, who was 27-for-35 for 326 yards and seven touchdowns. "The difference was that we protected the ball just a little bit better in the fourth quarter, which is often the key in the Arena Football League."

The Dragons played the game shorthanded almost from the outset. On the third play of the game, starting defensive specialist Chris Angel appeared to make soft contact with an official after Angel was angered that a clip by a Destroyers blocker was not called. Angel was ejected for abuse of an official. WR/DB's DaShane Dennis and Corey Johnson divided Angel's responsibilities the rest of the way and performed admirably.

"That's how we've been winning games all year," said Johnson, who had one rushing touchdown. "We're getting contributions from everyone. Tonight was no different."

Chris Anthony led Dragons receivers with 10 ten receptions, four for touchdowns. Mike Horacek added six receptions and two touchdowns.

Garcia was named Offensive Player of the Game, while Anthony took home honors as the US Army Ironman of the Game. The Dragons host Chicago on Saturday at Nassau Coliseum. Tickets are still available so fans should contact the team at 1-866-AFL-TIXX to order their tickets before the game sells out.
