Crush Wins Duel of Division Leaders
March 26, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Colorado Crush News Release
Short week with only two practices? No problem.
Facing a division leader on the road? No problem.
Those two circumstances weren't enough to prevent the Crush from increasing its winning streak to five by turning back the Dallas Desperados 66-58 at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
In winning, the Crush overcame a horrific start in which the team fell behind 7-0 on the opening kickoff and then slipped into deficits of 14-0, 21-7 and 27-14 before going on a 33-10 run to take the lead for good.
"It doesn't matter how you start, it's how you finish," defensive specialist Delvin Hughley said. "Championship teams rise in the second half."
The Crush did just that, outscoring the Desperados 16-0 in the third quarter to turn a 37-31 halftime deficit into a 47-37 advantage.
