Dayton, Ohio-Tim Smith's sacrifice fly brought in Engle Beltre from third base with one out in the top of the 11th inning to break a 3-3 tie as the Clinton Lumber Kings defeated the Dayton Dragons 4-3 on Saturday night.

The Dragons, who lost the first game of the series to Clinton on Friday night, fell to 8-7 with the loss. They are tied for second place, one-half game behind Lansing in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.

Dayton jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first when Keltavious Jones tripled and scored on a wild pitch.

Clinton did not get on the board until the sixth inning against Dragons starter Matt Klinker, who was outstanding over the first five innings. But in the sixth, the Lumber Kings scored three times, capped off by a two-run home run by Ian Gac, his league-leading sixth of the season.

The Dragons scored in the sixth inning to pull to within one when Jones delivered his second triple of the game and scored on Michael McKennon's sacrifice fly to make it 3-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, Dayton's Justin Reed walked, went to second on Jones' sacrifice, and scored on Todd Frazier's two-out single to left to tie the game.

In the Clinton half of the 11th, Engle Beltre reached on a two-base throwing error by second baseman Kevyn Feiner to start the inning and went to third on Matt Lawson's sacrifice bunt. Smith then hit a fly ball to shallow left that was bobbled but caught by Jones in foul ground. Beltre tagged at third and scored to give Clinton a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the 11th, Brandon Waring was hit by a pitch to put the tying run aboard, but Denis Phipps grounded to third and Waring was forced at second. After Jake Long flied out to center, Phipps was thrown out trying to steal second to end the game.

The Dragons host the Lumber Kings at Fifth Third Field again Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Andrew Bowman (0-0, 0.00) will start for the Dragons against Clinton's Kennil Gomez (1-0, 3.27).
