Dorados Promotion Lets Fans Call the Plays

LACKS FURNITURE GALLERY ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACK PUTS THE FANS IN THE GAME
HIDALGO, TX: April 1, 2004 â The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of the arenafootball2 league and Lacks Furniture have teamed up for a promotion, which allows a selected registered fan to be known as the "Lacks Furniture Gallery Armchair Quarterback" at each of the eight regular season home games this season.
By stopping by any of the ten Valley-wide Lacks Furniture locations, fans can pick up a form to create and draw out their own offensive play and fill out the free registration for the contest. Dorados Head Coach Gary Gussman will gather all submissions prior to each home game and select the best offensive play involving all eight offensive players. The fan who turns in the winning submission will receive four tickets to that week's home game and be known as the "Lacks Furniture Gallery Armchair Quarterback."
The promotion does not end there. During the second quarter of the game, the Armchair Quarterback will be spotlighted during a stoppage in the action and the Dorados will run the play submitted by the Armchair Quarterback. If the Dorados score a touchdown, the fan will receive a $250 gift certificate to any of the ten Valley-wide Lacks Furniture locations. The Armchair Quarterback will also receive Dorados gifts if the team collects a first down on the special play.
The Dorado kick-off their inaugural campaign Saturday night against the Laredo Law. Saturday night's 7:30 PM kickoff will be televised locally on XERV Channel 9 (Cable 19) with Chris Due calling the play-by-play action, Hidalgo High School Head Varsity Football Coach Al Guerra providing color analysis and Jeffrey Salcedo contributing sideline information. Fans are also encouraged to tune in the game on ESPN Radio 1240 AM or online at www.doradosfootball.com , as Josh Bogorad will have the call.
