Domingue, Wathier Star in Pirates 5-0 Win

Portland, Me. - The Portland Pirates (2-2) stunned the Manchester Monarchs (2-2) in a 5-0 shutout win on Thursday at the Cross Insurance Arena. The Pirates, who faced elimination from the Calder Cup Playoffs for their last two games, beat the Monarchs to force Game 5 on Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.

The Pirates started the night off hot late in the first when Francis Wathier netted a goal at 19:05, assisted by Eric Selleck and Lucas Lessio.

The Pirates made it 2-0 when Brandon Gormley tipped-in a goal at 8:59 in the second, assisted by Henrik Samuelsson and Lucas Lessio. The Pirates nabbed their second of the periods on a 5-on-3 man-advantage when Patrick McNeill scored at 13:11, assisted by Samuelsson and Gormley.

The third period gave the Pirates two more goals and lots of great defense to maintain the shutout for Louis Domingue. Wathier scored his second goal of the night, third in two games, as he came out of the penalty box at 0:46, assisted by Jordan Szwarz. Brendan Perlini put the icing on the cake with his first pro goal at 18:41, assisted by Laurent Dauphin and Gormley.

Louis Domingue (2-1) pitched the shutout, saving all 28 shots that he faced from Manchester attackers. Monarchs' goalie Jean-Francois Berube (2-2) saved 14 of 19 shots from the Pirates.

Game 5 is slated for Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. The eighth-seeded Pirates will be looking to upset the first-seeded Monarchs in the rubber match of the series.
