Milwaukee Wave United News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team announced today that it has signed defender Chad Dombrowski to a two-year contract extension beginning with the upcoming 2004 season. The 23-year old Dombrowski, who had five goals and three assists for 13 points in 27 appearances (24 starts) during the 2003 campaign is once again expected to help anchor Milwaukee's defensive backfield.
"It's great to be back playing at home in Milwaukee," said Dombrowski. "I'm excited to get back on the field for the upcoming season with all the guys. I'm also thrilled to be back with the organization and look forward to the next couple of years."
6-1, 175 lb. Dombrowski is the second-oldest of four brothers who have all played college soccer at UW-Milwaukee. His older brother Scott, a one-time professional player himself, as well as younger brothers Tighe (now with the San Jose Earthquakes) and Neil (still at UWM) have all played for the Panthers. In addition, younger brother Zeke, who like Chad and his brothers also starred at West Allis' Nathan Hale High School, has committed to play for UWM beginning this fall.
"We're very excited to have Chad back with us for the next two seasons," said Milwaukee Vice-President of Soccer Operations Keith Tozer. "I feel that he is definitely one of best young defenders in the A-League."
"Chad was a warrior for us last season," said Wave United Coach Art Kramer. "I really felt that along with Joe Hammes and Steve Lawrence we had the top three rookie defenders in the league and it's going to be exciting to watch their continued development this season."
