June 26, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs posted 14 hits on Tuesday night, but came up just short against the Columbia Blowfish in a 7-6 loss at "The Swamp."

Tyler Ding (Tampa) was a key contributor the Dogs offensively, as he went 3-for-4 with three RBIs on the night.

Columbia recorded four runs in the top of the third to take the lead on Fayetteville, but the Dogs answered in the fourth with five runs of their own to gain a one-run advantage.

Ding picked up a double with the bases loaded that scored two runs, before his University of Tampa teammate, Connor Obrochta, drove in two runs of his own with a single down the right field line. Mike Tauchman (Bradley) prompty singled up the middle to bring home Zach Gawrych (Tampa), as Gawrych tallied his league-leading 24th run of the season.

The Blowfish took a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the 7th, but Fayetteville knotted it up once again when Reed Harper (Austin Peay) scored on a Ding base-hit up the middle.

A Columbia run in the seventh proved too much to overcome for the Dogs, as they dropped the contest by a run, ending their four-game CPL winning streak.

Max McDonald was effective for Fayetteville, as the lefty retired the side in order on three separate occasions during his 6.1 innings of work.

The next SwampDogs home game is on Friday, June 29th, where it's Summertime St. Patty's Day at the ballpark. The first 500 fans, 21 and older, will receive a souvenir glass courtesy of Healy Wholesale and Heineken.

The SwampDogs urge fans to purchase their tickets for the July 3rd Fireworks Extravaganza as soon as possible, as only a limited number of seats remain for the game.
