Richmond RiverDogs News Release

Richmond, VA - The RiverDogs are excited to announce the forging of new relationships with a pair of local teams, the Richmond Braves and Richmond Kickers.

Tomorrow night, Saturday, August 20th, the Dogs will wag their tails over to The Diamond to take in a Braves game, meet fans, and promote the upcoming hockey season. The Braves, the Triple-AAA affiliate of baseball's Atlanta Braves, will play host to the Toledo Mud Hens, the highest minor league representative of the Detroit Tigers. The contest is set to begin at 7:00 pm but members of the Dogs' staff and mascot Razz will be on-hand to meet fans as soon as the gates open at 5:45.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, September 3rd, Razz and the Dogs will make their way to the University of Richmond Stadium to join the Kickers for their last regular season home game against the Portland Timbers in exciting United Soccer League action. That game is also set for 7:00, with the Dogs walking around the Stadium at 5:45.

"I'm excited," said General Manager and Head Coach Robbie S. Nichols. "It's always a treat when local professional teams can work together and I think this is just the beginning. We'll go see the Braves and Kickers as their seasons wind down. Then, in a few months, they'll come see us, too. Hopefully this will lead to fan support and cross-over crowds for all three teams and maybe even some community outings together."

Should fans be interested in coming out to either game in support of their favorite Richmond sports clubs, The Diamond is located at 3001 N. Boulevard. Meanwhile, the University of Richmond Stadium is at 3201 Maplewood Avenue. For ticket information, visit the Braves website at www.rbraves.com or the Kickers on the web at www.richmondkickers.com.

Richmond opens its pre-season on October 14th with back-to-back games against new rival Roanoke. The matches, taking place in the 700-seat Skate Nation on the 14th and 15th, are being tabbed as the "Battle on Broad Street!" The regular season commences on Friday, October 21st, as the RiverDogs host the Adirondack Frostbite at the Richmond Coliseum. Individual game tickets for all Richmond home games will be available for purchase beginning in early-October. We will keep you updated with all developments regarding ticket sales as we draw closer to the season. Season tickets, FlexPaks, birthday parties and group packages are available through the RiverDogs' office.
