Dogs Fight Back for a Win in Flint

IceDogs Head Coach Daniel Fitzgerald picked up his first win in the OHL on the road in Flint, defeating the top-10 CHL ranked Firebirds and spoiling their home opener 3-2.

Josh Rosenzweig was outstanding as the game's first star kicking out 40 shots, with a variety of incredible saves.

Out-shot 11-9 in the first and trailing 1-0, an early power play goal in the second doubled the advantage for Flint. Kevin He's first in the OHL at 3:20 cut the deficit, with newcomer Andrew LeBlanc picking up a point on the assist.

The penalty kill was was pivotal in the second, defending a 5-3 Firebirds advantage before Aidan Castle tied the game with his second of the year at 15:14. Pasquale Zito and Daniel Michaud drew the assists on the power-play marker. The game winner came with exactly twenty seconds left in period two when Brendan Sirizzotti converted a bouncing puck with Zito snagging his second assist.

Rosenzweig would make 13 saves in period two and 17 more in the third.

The team is off to Saginaw tomorrow for a 5:30 PM puck drop.
