WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs were on the short end of an epic contest with the rival Wilmington Sharks 5-4 in 14 innings.

The Sharks capitalized on two walks by Aaron Lesiak (Soph./Presbyterian) in the opening frame to take a quick 1-0 lead, and would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the third inning.

In the top of the fourth, the SwampDogs plated a run when Austin Upshaw (Fr./Kennesaw State) tripled with two outs, then Garrett Gandolfo (Jr./Southeast Missouri) brought him home with an RBI single.

The Dogs fought back in the top of the eighth inning, when pinch hitter Tanner Woods (Soph./Chowan) reached on an error, was sacrificed into scoring position by Ki-Jana Madden (Fr./Spartanburg Methodist) and scored on a Mitch Roman (Jr./Wright State) double.
