Fresno Grizzlies News Release
FRESNO, CA - On the heels of a road trip that brought a Major League rivalry to the Pacific Coast League (Fresno vs. Sacramento) the Fresno Grizzlies will entertain the Triple-A affiliate of their parent club's fiercest rival this weekend at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies will open a four-game series with the Las Vegas 51's, the top farm team of the Los Angeles Dodgers, on Thursday, June 26 at 7:05pm. The homestand will feature an appearance by former Dodgers' great Steve Sax on Sunday.
The short, four-game homestand begins on Thirsty Thursday at Chukchansi Park, presented by 104.1 âIt Just Rocks'. 12oz. Tecate Light beers are available until the 5th inning for just $1, and dollar-sodas are available all night long.
Friday, June 27th the San Francisco Giants' top farm team will celebrate the premier farming community in the nation, as Ag Night takes over downtown Fresno. Ag Night, presented by Bayer CropScience, will celebrate both the rich agricultural history of the Valley and the overwhelming productivity of the industry of the region today. By itself, Fresno County's agricultural output outpaces 24 of the 50 states. A petting zoo and a tractor exhibit are just two of the highlights of the night at Chukchansi Park.
In addition to the regular Friday night highlights such as an Orange-Out T-Shirt giveaway (first 1,000 fans, courtesy of Rally's) and fantastic Friday Night Fireworks (courtesy of Bayer CropScience, CBS47, and KISS Country), June 27th will feature the culmination of last month's "Drag King For A Day" Contest. The lucky winner will perform on the field with the legendary Drag Kings, Minor League Baseball's premier infield-dragging dance crew, following the 5th inning.
In recognition of the new California law prohibiting drivers from using cell phones with a hands-free device, which goes into effect on July 1st, Saturday night at Chukchansi Park is Hands-Free Night. The first 2,500 fans into the Park will receive a Grizzlies' Duffel Bag (a hands-free device!) thanks to California Transplant Donor Network. On-field events for the night will include a demonstration by the Fresno Fuego soccer team (a hands-free sport!) and hands-free contests like bobbing for apples.
Any Grizzlies' fan that arrives at the Chukchansi Park box office wearing a hands-free cell phone device will be able to take advantage of a 2-for-1 Field Level Reserved ticket offer. However, in order to prepare people for the consequences associated with the newest California traffic law, fans that arrive at the box office while talking on their cell phones without using a hands-free device will be charged double for their tickets.
Sunday, June 28th, the first 6:05 start time of the summer, will be one of the biggest days of the season for Dodger fans in the Central Valley. While watching the Grizzlies take on the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate from Las Vegas, fans will be able to get autographs from former Los Angeles great Steve Sax. The five-time Major League All-Star, and 1982 National League Rookie of the Year will appear and sign free autographs for fans at Chukchansi Park before and during the game.
Like all Sundays, kids can run the bases on the field thanks to Del Taco, but the post-game fun won't just be limited to that as the Grizzlies' will kick off their Post-Game Summer Movie Series. Following each Sunday game for the rest of the season, a movie will be shown on the video board following the game, and fans can enjoy it from the outfield grass. Fans can visit fresnogrizzlies.com to vote for which movie they'd like to see. This week's choices are Bee Movie, Shrek the Third, Ratatouille, and Alvin & The Chipmunks.
The Grizzlies return home to kick off their four-game series with the Las Vegas 51's, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, on Thursday, June 26th. For information regarding tickets, promotions, or Grizzlies baseball, visit fresnogrizzlies.com or call 559.320.HITS.
