Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

Buffalo, NY. In a letter to ABA Buffalo Silverbacks player Modie Cox, Patricia A. Elliott of the Old 1st Ward Community Center wrote: "I want to be the first to say Thank You for the awesome and most powerful presentation you gave to our youth here at the First Ward last week. My goodness! The kids were in awe. They really learned a lot on the court as well as from your own life's experience.

The Life Clinic, "Do Your Best, Never Quit" was a much needed service to the lives of the young people here in the Old First Ward. And the fact that you still pressed out even after your car had been stolen spoke mountains in terms of your character and love for what you are doing. It was obvious to see that you actually live the lessons you teach and that you are a believer in what you preach.

The kids got much more than pointers on the way they should play the game but you gave to them direction on how to stay motivated and stay focused and remain hopeful no matter what adversities come across their paths.

One young person in particular I noticed you captivated his total being. His name is XX and he is the kind of kid that if he does not receive what you are saying in the first couple of minutes he does not even waste his time. He is one of the hardest kids around here to get to conform and comply with the rules of the center and you in a matter of moments had him and held onto him like I have never seen any one adult in this center do before including my self. It took me months to even gain the little bit of ground I have with him now. But the "Do Your Best, Never Quit" Life Clinic reeled him in and appealed to that which is on the inside of him.

If I could give my recommendation, I would say it is a very valuable and worthy presentation that should bear rich fruit in the lives of the youth it reaches. It is a very engaging and enrolling presentation that challenges the game of the play but also the game of life. Every community center, school and youth organization should do this for their young people.

Our young people in the inner city are up against a lot of pressure but in just a few short but very precious moments the "Do Your Best, Never Quit" can release in their minds the ability to be able to react positively and make the kind of decisions that make life good. Keep up the good work. I believe this program will bring great rewards to the lives it reaches. Again, thank you for coming out and we look forward to seeing you again very soon."

Do Your Best, Never Quit life seminars teach youths to focus on the effort they apply to a situaiton rather than the result. It's not about the win or loss, it's about believing in yourself and doing your best. The Buffalo Silverbacks would like to give a special thanks to Creditors Interchange for supporting the Do Your Best, Never Quit initiative.
