JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Armada forwards Alex Dixon and Jemal Johnson were named to the North American Soccer League Team of the Week on Wednesday.
Both players took part in each of the Armada's goals in the squad's 2-1 victory over Puerto Rico FC last Saturday in Jacksonville.
Johnson, who was named Farah and Farah Man of the Match, hit the back of the net in the ninth minute with blast off the inside of his foot after Dixon slid a pass to him from the opposite side of the box. It is the fourth career NASL Team of the Week honor for Johnson.
After a two-hour long lightning delay, Johnson set up Dixon in the 27th minute for the game-winner on a picture-perfect cross back to the top of the box. It is the first time Dixon has been named to the NASL Team of the Week.
It is the seventh time in 2016 and second-straight week Armada players have landed on Team of the Week. Goalkeeper Sean Lewis earned the honor last week after setting a club record with 10 saves against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on July 2.
