Disciplinary committee imposes several suspensions

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, March 14, 2006 (QMJHL) - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's disciplinary committee handed-out several suspensions this afternoon following incidents which occurred in the game opposing the Saguenéens and the Remparts last Sunday.
Firstly, for Quebec, forward Kenzie Sheppard received an automatic two game suspension for "aggressor" codes he received during the game as well as an additional one game suspension for the accumulation of codes. Moreover, the disciplinary committee added three games, bringing the total to six.
Furthermore, forward Nicolas Robillard received a one game suspension for charging the goaltender and defenseman Guillaume Veilleux was also suspended one game (automatic) for spearing.
Finally, the Remparts organization was fined $250 for inappropriate conduct following the game and its Head Coach, Patrick Roy, an additional $500 for inappropriate remarks directed towards League officials.
As for Chicoutimi, defenseman Guillaume Lépine was suspended one game by the disciplinary committee for checking from behind. Louis-Ãtienne Leblanc also got an automatic one game suspension for spearing. Benoit Piché received an automatic one game suspension for the accumulation of codes, one game for having been the 3rd player involved in fight, and the disciplinary committee added an additional game, thus bringing the total to three.
Before rendering their decisions, the disciplinary committee reviewed the video sequences of the incidents and consulted all concerned parties. The suspensions are in effect as of today.
In accordance with the QMJHL's policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, the disciplinary committee will not be available for further comment.
