Dirt Dawgs Sign Sistrunk and Keck from Lipscomb for 2013 Season

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (Friday, March, 8, 2013) - The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs are excited to announce the signings of pitcher Dalton Keck and infielder Austin Sistrunk, from Lipscomb University located in Nashville, Tennessee, for the 2013 season.

"We are looking forward to seeing teammates Dalton and Austin from Lipscomb play at Doyle Field this summer," said Scott Lettre, Director of Baseball Operations, "we hope the fans are as excited as we are to see these players from the Division 1 Atlantic Sun Conference play for us."

Keck, a 6-Foot-2, 190 pound freshman pitcher from Knoxville, Tennessee, has not played yet for the Bisons during their short spring season so far.

Keck played at the Christian Academy of Knoxville during high school and helped his team to win the District Championships for three seasons in a row from 2010-2012, and were the regional champions in 2012 as well as the district. He earned All-State and All-Region accolades in both his junior and senior seasons. He also earned All-District for his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Keck was named team MVP for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He was also a two sport athlete and scored over 1,000 points and is the all time leader in rebounds for his school in basketball.

Keck is looking forward to his opportunity with the Dirt Dawgs this summer.

"I am very excited to join the Dirt Dawgs. It will be a new adventure for me being so far away from home. This is an exciting opportunity for me, being part of what I've heard is a great organization," said Keck, "I hope to work on my game, try to improve, and help the Dirt Dawgs have a great season."

Sistrunk, a 6-Foot, 200 pound freshman infielder from Franklin, Tennessee, has hit .190 with 4 RBIs for the Bisons, who are 6-7 this season.

He played for Franklin High School and was named to the All-District team in 2012. He also earned the title of District 11AAA Player of the Year. His senior season he finished with a batting average of .416, with 34 RBI, 26 singles, 15 doubles, two triples, and four home runs.

Sistrunk can't wait to join the team this summer and play in the Northeast.

"I am really excited, I have never been that far north to play baseball before, which is a great opportunity for me. I hear we have a really good team this year, and I hope we can turn things around from last year and have a great season," said Sistrunk, " I hope to be seen by some scouts and help the team win games."

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs open their season at home on June 6 th at 6:35 p.m.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs play at historic, and newly renovated, Doyle Field in Leominster, MA and are a 2012 expansion franchise in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The 2013 season swings into action on June 5 th .
