
Dirt Dawgs Hold off Sharks 5-4

Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
LEOMINSTER, Mass (July 11, 2014). The Dirt Dawgs scored early and were able to hold on to the lead to snap an eight game losing streak. They topped the Martha's Vineyard Sharks by a score of 5-4.
The Dirt Dawgs scored three in the first inning thanks to the long ball. Mike Corin (URI) hit his league leading 11th home run of the season, a 2 run shot, and Austin Botts (Lock Haven) hit his sixth. Brendan Skidmore (Binghamton) had a single in his debut for the Dirt Dawgs. Mike Lundin (Franklin Pierce) went six innings only allowing two runs. He also had six strikeouts. Ben White (Holy Cross) earned his first save of the season.
The Sharks had three home runs in the game. Will Toffey (Vanderbilt) and Tim Bickford (Bridgeport) each had solo shots. Brian Campbell (Stonehill) had a two run home run in the 8th inning. Matt Binder (Millersville) came in and threw one perfect inning of relief.
The Dirt Dawgs will host the Pittsfield Suns on Saturday July 12th at 6:35. Dan Ditusa (Seton Hall) will be on the mound for the Dirt Dawgs.
