Dirt Dawgs and T.G.I. Friday's Hold Event for Hunger Awareness Month

LEOMINSTER, Mass. (October 3, 2012) - This past Friday, the local T.G.I. Friday's in Leominster hosted the Wachusett Dirt Dawg's team mascot, Digger, to help bring in canned food items for National Hunger Awareness Month.

"This event was a big hit," said Scott Lettre, Director of Baseball Operations of the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, "being able to help out our local food pantry was a great way to end Hunger Awareness Month."

All food that has been donated at T.G.I. Friday's has been given to Ginny's Food Pantry located in Leominster.

"Hunger Awareness month was a great way for TGI Friday's to donate back to a worthwhile Charity. Thank you to the Employees at our store, local patrons, children and especially Digger and Scott for being part of our event." said Maureen Carter, General Manager of the T.G.I. Friday's in Leominster.

All families in attendance that night were able to enjoy a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal.

Everyone who donated food was also entered in for a drawing to win two free adult meals from T.G.I. Friday's. They could also have won a youth hat, pennant, and two tickets to a game in 2013 from the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs.

"We would like to thank everyone who donated a canned food item during this drive last week," said Lettre.
