Dinner and a Game

May 18, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Rapid City Flying Aces News Release

Rapid City, SD - The new ownership group of the Rapid City Flying Aces is working hard to match the on field success of the team by rebuilding the team's image, relationships, and trust. The group is made up of all local investors, who are showing their dedication to the team and appreciation to the community. Teaming up with the Flying Aces is the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and the City of Rapid City to celebrate the #1 ranked team in the nation staying in Rapid City and to revitalize the teams fan base, which averaged close to 4,000 fans at the beginning of the season.

To generate the excitement the Flying Aces are offering fans FREE DINNER - YES, WE SAID FREE, with the purchase of a ticket to the home game this Saturday, May 20 at 7:05 pm vs. the Wyoming Cavalry. Fans will receive a FREE Hotdog, FREE Popcorn, and FREE Soda. That's Right - You get your admission into the game and dinner for only $11. Why would you want to spend your Saturday night any other way?

The Flying Aces also have an exciting possible milestone for the game. If the Aces defeat the Cavalry, they will have locked up their division. And this would guarantee them a home field playoff game in the first round, something Rapid City hasn't seen in quite some time. The game also gives the Aces a chance to continue their undefeated streak of 8-0. Coach Magic's regular season record over the last 3 seasons is a combined 33-3.

The Aces continued their success last week by defeating the defending NIFL Champions, the Tri-Cities Fever, 54-38. Their upcoming opponent this week is the Aces arch rival from Casper, WY, the Wyoming Cavalry. The Cavalry come to town with a 4-4 record on the season. "The team is a lot better than their record indicates, I would say they are in the top 5 teams' talent wise in our league, they've just played some tough, close games and came out on the wrong end of things," said Coach Maciejczak.

One of those losses came on behalf of the Flying Aces when the two teams meet back on April 8, with the Flying Aces outscoring the Cavalry 72-46, but the story goes deeper then just game itself. The Aces and the Cavalry's game was stopped early on April 8, after a bench clearing brawl broke between the two teams. Punches were thrown, players ejected, and referees knocked to the ground. There is no love loss between the two teams and it should make for an exciting game.
