Flying Aces sign former Auburn Tiger

Rapid City, SD - The Rapid City Flying Aces signed former Auburn guard Monreko Crittenden, head coach Dan Maciejczak announced today. The 6-foot-4, 348-pound offensive lineman originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2004 following a successful playing career at Auburn University. Crittenden is a massive drive blocker who started 36 games during his career at Auburn, blocking for Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Cadillac Williams and Miami Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown. Crittenden received individual recognitions with Second Team All-American Honors as a senior and was considered to be the fourth best offensive guard in the nation in 2003 after anchoring an offensive line that produce two 1,000 yard rushers in consecutive seasons.

"This is a huge signing for our organization and the City of Rapid City," said head coach Dan Maciejczak. "For everything that our organization and City has went through this season, and to still be able to add a player of Monreko's talent level is huge for our team and shows the community that our team and NEW LOCAL OWNERSHIP is moving in the right direction for the future."

The Flying Aces and all other NIFL teams are required to report their "Frozen Roster" this upcoming Thursday at 5pm. A "Frozen Roster" consists of 30 players, which will finish the NIFL regular season and NIFL playoffs. No players will be are allowed to sign with an NIFL team after the deadline has passed, regardless of injuries, suspensions, etc. The Rapid City Flying Aces finish up their 2006 regular season home schedule this Saturday, June 17 when they host the Billings Outlaws, the only team to beat the Aces this season, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center with a 7:05pm kickoff.
