Commentary: NIFL daily buzz

Going to be short and bittersweet this morning. Don't really have much, thought about adding fires to all AIFL, APFL, IFL and UIF cities since someone is trying to be an arsonist there, but really just too lazy. I did get about a half dozen emails from players and others involved with Tennessee yesterday. None were very pleasant, some even finding words for owner LaMunyon that I hadn't thought of.

According to every single one, the team is dead. One even said the uniforms had been repossessed. In one email from someone who lives in the Chattanooga area that was looking into starting up an NIFL team, said they are now looking at the AIFL as the NIFL doesn't look like a league they want to be a part of. That's a side effect of allowing in poor ownership, you drive other potential owners to other leagues. But be that as it may, no word I've seen from the NIFL officially on the team.

So, what is it all about?

Just speculating on motives the NIFL leadership might have in filing this lawsuit against the other leagues this morning. I would like to know what the NIFL leadership is asking for in the suit, but I know someone will tell me sooner or later. But, back on point. I don't believe it has anything to do with money, more to do with power and control. I'd like to say this is being used to deflect from current NIFL problems, but its not. This suit has been in the works and most knew it was coming, just the exact time in question. I'm not really sure what the motivation is, but I do know it will cause harm to the sport and for those that care, make it easier for the af2 to sell their product. I would also expect potential owners with a few smarts might want to wait till this is all concluded before forking out big franchise fees, including to the NIFL, at least those very, very few that are actually charged a fee. All in all I just give up. Some are on such a power trip that they don't care who they hurt in the process.

First hearing

I can say this because the NIFL attorney sent it to me thinking I owned the APFL or something. The first hearing is to be held in Federal Court by conference on the 19th. That's tomorrow. Since the attorney didn't seem to know the correct email address for the APFL, I'll pass along the substance to all the other leagues involved here just in case the attorney didn't know how to get hold of you.

The exact wording follows "We are counsel for the NIFL and we have filed suit because of the use of NIFL proprietary rules by the APFL. I sent you a letter and a CD with information regarding this suit. The Federal District Court is holding a telephone conference on this matter on Friday May 19. Please contact me or have your counsel contact me as soon as possible regarding this matter."

Just for amusement in these troubled times

A fan posted the following link on the indoorbowl.com board a couple days ago. It was funny a couple years ago and still funny today http://www.mikeburger.com/fb.html The parody is entitled "NIFL folds due to cash flow problems"

Guess what?

I'm done for this morning!

Fire watch

Is Tennessee the first to burn completely? What others will follow?

Parting notes

Time for a change folks, no question about it, but I wonder if anybody capable of making change is listening. And to maybe call out those who have the power to make a difference, to make the changes needed, I wonder, do you have what it takes to make the right decisions or cower as in years past. Blunt I know, politically correct, maybe not, but exactly as I see it.
