Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs News Release

Mohawk Valley pitcher Michael DeCarlo (Wynantskill, NY/Herkimer College) made his debut for the Diamond Dawgs, and came out a winner, as the Diamond Dawgs held off a three-run rally in the eighth inning to beat Watertown, 5-4

DeCarlo pitched six solid innings for the Diamond Dawgs (4-2), and was credited with the win. His opponent, Watertown pitcher Mitch Sewald (Mandeville, LA/Louisiana State) fell to 0-2 on the year with the loss. Diamond Dawg closer Enzo Esposito (Lawrenceville, NJ/Millersville) closed out the game in the 9th with a 1-2-3 inning to get the save.

Sewald faced 18 Diamond Dawgs between the second and fourth innings, accounting for all five Mohawk Valley runs.

The Rams (3-4) rallied furiously in the eighth inning, scoring three runs to cut the Diamond Dawgs' lead to one, but that was as close as they would get, as Esposito would put the Rams down in order to win it and continue Mohawk Valley's winning streak, which now sits at three games.

The Diamond Dawgs will end their current two-game home stand tomorrow against Amsterdam in the first game of the Patriot Cup for this season. The Rams have a day off tomorrow before welcoming the Newark Pilots to Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
