Devil Rays Introduce Community Organization of the Night
February 24, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
Battle Creek, Mi. The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays, in partnership with American Computer Services, proudly announces the Community Organization of the Night program. This program continues the Devil Rays tradition of community involvement and non-profit contributions.
The Community Organization of the Night is a program set up to offer non-profit organizations around the community a chance to host a table in the concourse of the C.O. Brown Stadium during one of the Devil Rays home games. At the table, the organization may distribute literature or promotional items for the organization, or anything that they feel would help them promote or inform the public about their group. No soliciting is allowed.
"Providing the non-profit organizations of the Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan area a venue to voice their message is very important to our organization and Ivy Walls Management Company," said Devil Rays GM Martie Cordaro. "This is also a great way for the non-profits to inform our fans about ways they can make a difference in our community."
Each organization may send up to four representatives to manage the table during the game. Four tickets will be left at the Box Office Will Call window under Community Organization of the Night. The organization needs to arrive one hour and 15 minutes prior to the game.
One volunteer from the organization will have the opportunity to throw a ceremonial first pitch. An on-field interview with a representative from the organization will take place on the field prior to first pitch. The interview is approximately two minutes in length. At the end of 3rd inning, a representative from the organization will be taken up to the radio booth to go on the air with our broadcaster for half of an inning.
"We are thrilled to be participating in a unique program like the Community Organization of the Night," said Susan Baldwin, co-owner of American Computer Services. "One of the wonderful things about Battle Creek is that we have so many people who volunteer and dedicate their time and efforts to making this great place even better. We have folks living and working here, taking on challenging issues with enthusiasm. We're glad to recognize them."
This program is on a first-come-first-serve basis. If your organization would like to sign up as a Community Organization of the Night, presented by American Computer Services, please contact the Devil Rays at (269) 660-2287.
Opening day is only 45 days away for the 2006 "Catch Some Rays" season.
