Devil Rays extend special invitation to "Raywatch" e-mail readers

September 29, 2005 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Princeton WhistlePigs News Release

The Princeton Devil Rays would like to invite our "Raywatch" e-mail readers to take part either as participants or spectators in the annual Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, which is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday after Thanksgiving-November 28, 2005. For the second consecutive year, P-Rays' General Manager Jim Holland and Nancy Meade will serve as PMCCC's co-chairpersons of the parade.

The reason we are alerting you to this so far in advance is for those of you who would like to create and enter floats or other types of marching units or displays. Last year's parade was considered by many in this region to be the largest and best parade in the history of this already big annual event. We hope this year's parade will surpass last year's as we invite you to create your participation around this year's theme: "A Mercer County Christmas, Past or Present." For example, entrants may wish to create a float that features a 1960's motif as it relates to our area, etc.

There is no entry fee for participants and groups who do enter floats for judging will be eligible for either cash prizes or plaques. Floats will be judged on originality, representation of the parade theme, and difficulty in construction. Participant categories in which floats can be entered are: 1. religious, 2. civic/fraternal/sorority, 3. business, and 4. individual. First and second place monetary awards ($50.00 and $25.00 respectively) will be awarded to float entries in the "civic/fraternal/sorority" and "individual" categories. First and second place plaques will be awarded to float entries in the "business" and "religious" categories.

Once again, there is no entry fee and please note that all entries must be received by the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce office no later than Monday, November 14, 2005. Once again, the parade will be here before you know it and we encourage you to share this message with those you know who may wish to participate in the parade. For further information (and to obtain a registration form), please contact the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce office by telephone at (304) 487-1502.

The Princeton Devil Rays are proud to be an active chamber member in this event and we thank our baseball readers for taking a moment to read this message.
