Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release

The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays are proud to announce that Tim Hamulack made his major league debut for the New York Mets on September 2, 2005.

Hamulack, a left-handed pitcher from Ithaca, NY, retired the only man he faced, Carlos Delgado, against the Marlins in Florida during his debut. He has pitched in two other games at St. Louis on Sept. 8 and Sept. 10 allowing two hits and one run in one inning.

Hamulack is the 40th franchise alumni to make the majors and the fifth in 2005. It has been discovered that Marty McCleary, who appeared for San Diego in 2004, was missed and is now included. The other four in 2005 are Mike Burns, D.J. Houlton, Todd Self and Melky Cabrera.

Hamulack pitched for the Michigan Battle Cats in 1999 going 3-0 with a 3.24 ERA in 26 2/3 innings covering 25 relief appearances. The 28-year-old allowed 23 hits, 11 walks and 32 strikeouts in that season.

The 6'4" Hamulack was a spring training invitee for the Mets in April. At AA Binghamton, he recorded a 2-2 record with a 1.26 ERA with six saves in 21 games. In early June, Hamulack was promoted to AAA Norfolk where he improved to 3-1 with a sparkling 1.02 ERA in 28 games and 35 1/3 innings.

Hamulack went to Montgomery Community College in Maryland before getting drafted by the Houston Astros in the 32nd round of the 1995 draft. The Padres are his fifth organization after spending minor league time with Houston, Florida, Seattle and Boston.
