August 1, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards announced today that center Glenn Detulleo has been signed to return for the 2006-07 season. Detulleo will be back with the team after recording career highs in assists (53) and points (70) during the 2005-06 season.
The 5-foot-7, 170-pound center lead last year's Mallards in assists and ranked second in points. He spent much of the year on a line with the team's leading scorer, Chad Woollard, and leading rookie scorer, Matt Radoslovich. The trio combined for 192 points (84 goals and 108 assists) with Detulleo orchestrating the action from his center position. Detulleo was one of five Mallards to appear in every game last year and made six post-season appearances while recording seven points (a goal and six assists).
"He was one of the players that set the tone for last year's team," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "Glenn may not be the biggest player in the league, but he's a workhorse that plays like the biggest player every night. He has tremendous heart. He's the ultimate character player, and he's also very skilled. We're happy to have him back."
"Glenn was everything we expected and more last season," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "We knew that we were getting a scrappy, hard-working player. In addition to that, we got a very talented player that added so much to our line-up. He makes his teammates better, which is invaluable. Glenn is one of the hardest working guys in the league and a terrific example for younger players."
Detulleo joins center Patrick Nadeau, goaltender Jason Tapp and defenseman Jami Yoder as holdovers from 2005-06 that have signed for the new season. Forward Carlyle Lewis is also signed for the 2006-07 campaign.
Detulleo joined the Mallards after spending the 2004-05 season in Missouri. His professional career also includes time in Norway and Germany. In 280 pro games, the Timmins, Ontario native has 204 points on 67 goals and 137 assists. Detulleo spent his amateur career with the Iowa State Cyclones of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. He established schools records for goals (58 in 1999-2000), assists (77 in 2000-01) and points (122 in 2000-01) in a single season. In 1999-2000, he was the Central States Collegiate Hockey League scoring champion and Most Valuable Player.
The Mallards Roller Hockey Camp featuring instructors Patrick Nadeau and Jami Yoder begins August 14th. The camp is open to all ages and will be held at the Quad City Sports Center. For information, visit the Mallards Nest Team Store to pick up a brochure or call (309) 764-7825.
