Detroit Shock News Release
SHOCK ARE ONE VICTORY CLOSER TO THE PLAYOFFS
The Shock used a fast start to move into sole possession of fourth place in the East with Sunday's 66-52 victory over the visiting Mystics. Detroit was out to break a tie with Washington for the final playoff spot. Deanna Nolan led the scoring attack with 18 points and Cheryl Ford recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Detroit has three regular season games remaining and plays the Mystics one last time at Washington on Saturday.
SPARKS STOP SHOCK IN LA
With a new coach at the bench the Sparks beat the Shock 74-67 Friday night. Deanna Nolan put a good effort in with 21 points, but could not stop Lisa Leslie and Chamique Holdsclaw who combined scored 43 points.
MERCURY STOP SHOCK IN PHOENIX
The Shock could not stop Maria Stepanova who contributed 14 points to the 58-51 victory over the Shock Tuesday night. Katie Smith scored 11 points and Cheryl Ford added 10 for the Shock. Detroit made just four of 31 shots in the second half after leading by as many as 10 points in the first 20 minutes. "Our team didn't show in the second half, which was very discouraging" coach Bill Laimbeer reflected after the loss.
$$ GAS PER GALLON = $$ SHOCK PER TICKET
Gasoline prices may be going up, but the price of a Detroit Shock ticket is going down. The price per gallon and the price per ticket will be the same. As a way to ease the pain at the pump that metro Detroiters are feeling, Detroit Shock management announced a Drive for the 2005 Playoffs ticket offer which makes available 500 tickets per game for the last two regular season home games and the first game of the playoffs, at a price that is equal to the average price per gallon of gasoline (according to a AAA Michigan) on the day of purchase.
FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT
On Thursday, August 25 the Swin Cash and the rest of the Shock host their last regular season home game against the Indiana Fever. To thank the fans for a season of support the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a Shock T-Shirt. Come get your free T-Shirt, and watch the Shock drive to the playoffs.
