A NAIL BITER TO THE END The Fever held off a late rally Sunday and beat the Shock for the second game in a row, and the third time this season, 59-58. With 9.8 seconds left and the Shock down bye three, Kara Braxton missed a lay-up but Cheryl Ford rebounded bringing the Shock to 58. Ford racked up 18 points for the Shock, while both Nolan and Braxton had eight points, and eight rebounds for the Shock. The Shock lost on the road to the Fever on Friday, July 15th, 57-62.

MINNESOTA PROVED TOUGH LOSS FOR DETROIT The Detroit Shock was out scored by the Lynx Wednesday 71 - 61. Lynx player Katie Smith scored her 5,000th career point, becoming the first woman to reach the professional basketball milestone. Deanna Nolan was high scorer for the Shock with 18 points; Plenette Pierson added 12 to the scoreboard and forward Swin Cash racked up 10 for the Shock.

SHOCK'S NOLAN AND FARRIS TAKE STEPS TO SUCCESS TO THE STREET

Detroit Shock two-time All-Star guard Deanna Nolan and Steps to Success veteran Barbara Farris will headline the teen forum at Methodist Children's Home on July 26 from 4 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. The audience will be made up of 200 teenagers from Methodist Children's Home and other Big Family of Michigan Associates. All participants will receive a Shock giveaway bag and Steps to Success t-shirt. Methodist Children's home is located at 26645 West Six Mile Road in Redford.

SHOCK TO HOST 4TH ANNUAL TIP A SHOCK

The Detroit Shock will host their 4th annual Tip-A-Shock at Kalloway's restaurant on Wednesday, July 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Kalloway's is partnering with the Shock to help raise money for the March of Dimes. All tips fro the wait staff and proceeds from the raffle; silent auction, pictures and autographs will benefit the March of dimes. Be sure to come out, and tip big!

LAMBERT IS HERE TO STAY Detroit Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced the team has signed the 5-7 guard Shelia Lambert to a contract for the remainder of the season. Lambert is no stranger to Detroit; she played in 27 games with the Shock during the 2003 season.
