Detroit Fury to Visit Children in Local Hospital

March 19, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Members of the Detroit Fury Arena Football team will visit the pediatrics unit of William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak on Tuesday, March 30th, 2004 at 3:00 PM. This is the second visit in as many years that the Fury has made to Beaumont, Royal Oak.

Hospitalized children in the unit will have the chance to meet and talk with several Fury players on a one-on-one basis. The kids will also have an opportunity to meet the Detroit Fury Cheerleaders and Frenzy, the team mascot. The group will sign autographs and hand out special Fury gifts for the children as a reminder of the day. The players' main goal is to make every child on the floor smile or laugh during the day.

"Visiting the children of Beaumont is an excellent way to personally respond to the support the community has given us this season," said Dave Wieme, director of operations of the Fury. "This visit is totally for the benefit of the children of Beaumont, more so, than it is for our players. According to our last visit the kids love Fury and learn a lot from our players, and that is our primary intention."

Media should enter William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak through the North Entrance and from there will be escorted to pediatrics. Beaumont Hospital is located at 3601 W. Thirteen Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI 48073. William Beaumont Hospital is a nationally and locally recognized hospital. In 2002, Beaumont, Royal Oak was ranked sixth on a list of America's top 50 hospitals by the AARP. Beaumont was the only Michigan hospital on the list.
