Detroit Ignition News Release

(Plymouth, Mich., - April 3, 2009) - Although the league champions had already been named, nearly 4,300 fans packed in to Compuware Arena tonight to cheer on the Ignition as they played their last home game of the season. With streamers and confetti at the ready, everyone was on the edge of their seat as the visiting Chicago Storm tried to spoil the party, closing a four-point gap in less than two minutes to send the game into a sudden-death overtime.

Midfielder Tino Scicluna scored the game-winning shot at 6:15 of the extra period, sending the standing-room only crowd into a frenzy. Following the trophy presentation, the Ignition took time to thank the fans with their trademark lap around the arena. Ignition goalkeeper and fan favorite Danny Waltman skipped the champagne-filled locker room to visit with every single fan left in the arena- at the time of this release, nearly 45 minutes after the game, Waltman continues taking pictures and signing autographs for those who have supported the team all year.

The Ignition will conclude their season this Sunday, April 5 when they take on the New Jersey Ironmen in Newark.
