
Destroyers sign offensive lineman Gregory Walker and linebacker Shurron Pierson

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Destroyers have signed linebacker Shurron Pierson and offensive lineman Gregory Walker, Head Coach Doug Kay announced today.
Pierson (6-2, 250, South Florida) the Inverness, Fla. native signed with the Oakland Raiders as a fourth-round draft pick in 2003 and suited up in six games where he accumulated eight tackles as he lined up as a defensive end. A year later he signed with the Chicago Bears and played in six contests and finished the season with two tackles. Pierson signed with the Orlando Predators in 2005 and did not play in a game. At the University of South Florida, Pierson holds high defensive marks. He is tied for the most sacks in a season with 10 and is second with 18 for his career (2001-02).
Walker (6-5, 341, Clemson) a two-year starter at Clemson University, he was selected in his senior season to participate in the Findlay Toyota Las Vegas All-American Classic in 2004. Un-drafted he signed with the New York Giants and spent time on the practice squad where he played with current Destroyers offensive lineman Jason Hilliard. The Sumter, South Carolina native was selected to the Shrine Bowl, an All-Star game between the best football talent in North and South Carolina, after his senior season at Sumter H.S.
