Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2007) -- The Orlando Predators came close to filling out their 2007 pre-season roster on Wednesday by announcing the signing of a pair of wide receivers in former NFL veteran MICAH ROSS and "arenafootball2" standout TORREY DAY.

Ross is a five-year veteran of the National Football League, having spent time with Jacksonville, San Diego and Carolina. He played in 45 career NFL games - playing mostly on special teams. His NFL stats include eight kickoff returns for 150 yards (18.8 avg.), all with the Jaguars during the 2001 season.

Ross earned a special teams game ball after recovering a muffed punt that led to a touchdown against Houston in a 2002 game and he also recovered a blocked punt against Tampa Bay in a 2004 game. He holds the distinction of being one of only four players in NFL history to play in 17 regular season games in a regular season, appearing in seven games for San Diego and 10 games with Carolina in the 2004 campaign.

At the University of Jacksonville, Ross played just one season of football - where he caught 16 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns as a fifth-year senior. He played four years with the JU basketball team, scoring more than 1000 career points and finishing in the top ten in school history for blocked shots.

In addition to his NFL experience, Ross played one season for the Jacksonville Tomcats of the "arenafootbal2" league, catching 35 passes for 557 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Day played last season for the Tennessee Valley Vipers of the "arenafootball2" league. He led the team in receptions (98), yards (1,313), touchdowns (21) and points scored (130) last season and finished sixth in the league in receiving yards per game (101.0). Day also played defensive back, recording 21.5 tackles with an interception and three pass break-ups.

From 2003-2005, Day played 32 games for the Louisville Fire, Green Bay Blizzard and South Georgia Wildcats, catching 126 passes for 1,613 yards and 27 touchdowns. Those totals included 71 receptions for 934 yards and 15 touchdowns with the Fire in 2003. A former Alabama A&M standout, Day also played briefly for the Odessa Roughriders of the Intense Indoor Football League.

Ross attended the Predators "Free Agent Open Tryout Camp" on Dec. 2 and becomes the eighth player signed by Orlando from a pair of open tryout camps held prior to the 2007 season. The signing of Ross and Day give the Predators 34 players under contract for the 2007 season. The team can have up to 37 players on their active roster when training camp opens on Feb. 3
