Columbus Destroyers News Release
COLUMBUS, OH â The Arena Football League's Columbus Destroyers have signed defensive specialist Chris Angel and offensive/defensive lineman Hunter Adams to free agents contracts, the team announced today. Terms of their contracts were not disclosed. In addition, the team has activated kicker Steve Videtich from the team's refused to report list.
Angel (5-11, 204) joins the Destroyers and the Arena Football League after most recently spending time as a defensive back with the NFL's Oakland Raiders. He was a three-year starter at Western Oregon University, setting the team's career tackles record at 312. In 2001 earned All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors as a senior with 60 tackles and three interceptions.
Adams (6-5, 290) comes to Columbus after spending the past three seasons as a member of the New Jersey/Las Vegas Gladiators. Adams was a multipurpose lineman last season with the Gladiators, registering seven tackles (5 solo, 1 for a loss) with two pass breakups on the defensive side and on the offensive side managed one reception for 14 yards. Adams began his AFL career in 1999 as a member of the Houston Thunderbears before one-year stints with the Carolina Cobras (2000) and Nashville Kats (2001).
Videtich (6-2, 185) joins the Destroyers after establishing himself as one of the top kickers in the Arena Football League. Last year as a member of the Las Vegas Gladiators, Videtich connected on 92-of-99 extra point attempts and made 14-of-28 field goal attempts. He was named Kicker of the Year in 1997 when he set an AFL record of converting 60 straight extra point attempts, a streak that continued into the 1998 season and was snapped at 62.
The Destroyers have also released four players, including defensive specialists Von Keith Spencer and Mark Harris, offensive/defensive lineman Ken Bouie and fullback/ linebacker Quentin Cradle.
