BALTIMORE, MD - The Columbus Destroyers, presented by GermainCars.com, were outlasted by the Baltimore Brigade on Friday night, 48-30, at Royal Farms Arena. With the loss, the Destroyers drop to 0-3 on the season. Quarterback Grant Russell threw for 172 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception and carried the ball nine times for 16 yards and another score, while wide receivers Jenson Stoshak and Paul Revis each caught a touchdown pass in the road loss.

The Brigade struck first on their opening possession when quarterback Shane Boyd found wide receiver Joe Hills for a 44-yard touchdown, giving Baltimore an early 7-0 lead. After a turnover on downs, defensive lineman Nick Seither recovered a Brigade fumble before Russell was picked off in the end zone on the next series.

After another defensive stop, Russell hit Revis with an 18-yard scoring strike to even the score, 7-7, in the second quarter. On the next series, Boyd took it in himself from one yard out to give Baltimore the lead back, 14-7. The Destroyers answered on their next possession when kicker Craig Peterson booted a 29-yard field goal to trim Baltimore's lead to 14-10. The Brigade closed out the half with another score of their own, this time a 13-yard throw-and-catch from Boyd to wide receiver Milton Williams, to give the home team a 21-10 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, it only took two plays for Columbus to find pay dirt, as Russell hit wide receiver Jenson Stoshak with a 19-yard scoring strike to make the score 21-16. Later in the quarter, Boyd found Collins for a 5-yard score to extend Baltimore's lead to 28-16. On the ensuing kick-off, wide receiver Fabian Guerra returned it 55 yards for the score to close the gap to 28-23. The Brigade answered once again on their next drive, with Boyd finding Collins for a 33-yard touchdown to push their lead to 35-23 with 12 minutes left in the game.

With 9:28 left in the game, Russell called his own number and plunged into the end zone from one yard out to make the score 35-30. The Brigade closed out the scoring for the evening thanks to fullback Rory Nixon scoring from two yards out and Boyd finding wide receiver Brandon Thompkins for a 16-yard touchdown to seal the win for Baltimore, 48-30.

Next up for the Destroyers is the team's home opener versus the Albany Empire on Saturday, May 18th at 7:00pm from Nationwide Arena in Columbus. The game can be seen live on The CW, heard on CD102.5, and streamed on ESPN3.
