MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - WR Antoine Burns totaled a team-high 97 yards with three touchdowns as the Milwaukee Iron (0-1) dropped a 60-38 decision to the Iowa Barnstormers (1-0) to kick off regular-season play Friday night at the Bradley Center.
For the Iron, QB Tyler Donovan totaled 12 complete passes and threw149 yards with two touchdowns, while starting QB Shane Adler added 77 yards with one touchdown. QB Brian Villanueva passed 88 yards with two touchdowns for the Barnstormers, who took first place in the Midwest Division with the win. WR Tim Dodge caught six passes for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Barnstormers, who dominated play throughout the game.
Despite leading 14-7 after the first quarter, the Iron weren't able to catch up after the Barnstormers went on a 33-10 run for a demanding 40-24 lead at the half.
Iowa carried its tenacity over into the second frame, scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter to Milwaukee's zero. The Iron's seven-point effort in the fourth, including Burn's third touchdown on an 8-yard pass from Donovan, wasn't enough and the Barnstormers finished with a 60-38 advantage. The Iron return to the field April 4 to face the Mahoning Valley Thunder in Youngstown, Ohio.
