Desperados to Host Wild Card Playoff Game
June 22, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Dallas Desperados News Release
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Dallas Desperados (12-4, 6-3) will host a Wild Card playoff game against the New York Dragons (8-8, 2-6) on Friday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. (CDT) at the American Airlines Center on a live television broadcast on ESPN.
For the third consecutive season, and fifth overall time in team history, the Desperados return to the playoffs, this time as the No. 3 seed after finishing second in the Eastern Division behind leader, the Philadelphia Soul (13-3, 7-1), who assume the No. 1 seed and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs by finishing the regular season with the best overall record in the AFL's National Conference. The Wild Card game will mark Dallas's first opening round playoff game since a 45-49 loss to the Georgia Force during the 2003 postseason.
Dallas earned the No. 3 seed after dropping a 63-75 decision at the Chicago Rush (11-5) during a Week 17 matchup to conclude the season, while Philadelphia defeated New York, 59-30 to end any chance of Dallas claiming the top overall seed.
