Desperados to Hold Open Tryouts

The Dallas Desperados have put together a successful foundation in their first two seasons, making two playoff appearances and winning the Central Division title last spring. In their continuing effort to upgrade their talent level, the Desperados will hold open tryouts at Texas Stadium the first weekend of November.
Last year, approximately 400 people went through drills during an October open tryout session, with the Desperados signing lineman Gladston Taylor from the group of participants. Taylor spent the 2003 AFL season on Dallas' practice squad. In 2002, three participants of the inaugural open tryouts were signed by the Desperados and participated in the team's first training camp.
This year's tryouts will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Nov. 1 with registration for offensive linemen, defensive linemen, fullbacks and linebackers. Registration for quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs will begin at 11:00 a.m., while kickers begin registering at 3:00 p.m.
All players will be evaluated in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle and standing broad jump. Selected players will be invited to participate in an elite workout later in the day, where players will be evaluated in drills specific to the game of Arena Football.
To pre-register for the tryouts, log on to the club's official website at www.dallasdesperados.com, click the tryouts button on the left hand side of the page and download the registration form. The pre-registration fee is $45 and is payable by check or money order. Registration fee the day of the event is $55 and is payable by cash or money order only. All registered participants will receive an official Dallas Desperados Camp t-shirt.
All participants will need to provide their own workout attire: shoes, shorts and accessories. All workouts will take place on Texas Stadium's Realgrass⢠Synthetic Playing Surface. The Dallas Desperados are not responsible for travel or lodging expenses.

The Desperados and the rest of the Arena Football league kick off the 2004 season the weekend of Feb. 6-8. The AFL will be releasing the 2004 schedule in the coming weeks, at which point fans will be able to begin purchasing season ticket packages for the eight Desperados home games.
