March 26, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Dallas Desperados News Release
The Dallas Desperados today announced that OL/DL Shante Carver will undergo arthroscopic surgery Thursday morning to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Carver will then go through four-to-six weeks of rehabilitation before returning to the playing field. During his absence, Tim Martin will work with the starting line group.
Carver's injury originally flaired up four weeks ago while the team was playing the Arizona Rattlers in Phoenix on March 2. After sitting out the next game, he returned to action and played the next three weeks before spraining the knee last Friday night in a game against the Carolina Cobras in Charlotte. He underwent a MRI exam on Monday that detected the torn meniscus.
At the midpoint of the season, Carver was second on the team with 2.5 sacks while also totaling 9.5 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The Dallas Desperados return to Reunion Arena this weekend to host the Indiana Firebirds. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night and tickets are available by calling 972-785-4900, visiting metroplex TicketMaster locations or by ordering through the Desperados website at www.dallasdesperados.com.
