DALLAS, Texas - The Dallas Desperados will open the 2008 season with the team's annual training camp at Texas Stadium beginning on Monday, February 4 with the first practice scheduled for 10 a.m.
"We are excited to get the season going because we have something to prove," said head coach Will McClay. "We have a difficult schedule this season in our very competitive league, and are excited about the challenges ahead."
"It's hard to believe that training camp is already here," said Desperados Chief Operating Officer Shy Anderson. "It's going to be good to get this season underway because we believe that with these players, coupled with our fans, that we have a good a shot at winning a championship with this team."
In addition to the club's normal two-a-day workouts, the Desperados will host three teams for combined practices and a scrimmage beginning with the Kansas City Brigade on Feb. 11-12, followed by a joint practice/scrimmage with the Grand Rapids Rampage and the New Orleans VooDoo on Feb. 19-20. All practices will take place at Texas Stadium unless inclement weather requires a change in venue. All on-field practices are open to accredited media, including the joint practices and scrimmages with the Kansas City Brigade, Grand Rapids Rampage and New Orleans VooDoo. Following each practice, players and coaches will be available to the media for interviews.
Training camp opens with 37 players competing to make the final 24-man roster. Attached is a tentative daily schedule of events for training camp.
The Desperados open the 2008 season in a nationally televised game on ABC at the Georgia Force on March 1 at 12 p.m. CT.
