Denver Cutthroats News Release
Brampton - The Denver Cutthroats and Brampton Beast hit the ice at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario on Sunday, March 9. The Cutthroats allowed two goals in the second period, but were able to hold off the Beast in the final frame for a 5-2 victory.
Denver's Vincent Arseneau (Cam Reid, Robin Soudek) scored the opening goal of the afternoon. Just 30 seconds shy of the end of the period, Kyle Fletcher (Steve Kaunisto) put the Cutthroats up 2-0.
The second frame of action proved to accelerate the goal count. Jason Pitton (Steve Makway, Scott Howes) found the back of the Cutthroats net for the Beast's first goal of the game. Just seconds later, Denver's A.J. Gale (Troy Schwab) responded with a goal to hold his team's two-goal lead. Brampton made an effort to cut the deficit by one with a shot from Frank Littlejohn (Michael MacIsaac). However, the opposing team wouldn't have it as Cutthroats Aaron MacKenzie (Gale) lit up the red light to put the score at 4-2 Denver. With a one-timer from A.J. Gale (Schwab, Kaunisto), the Denver Cutthroats took a three-goal lead at the close of the second frame.
The final frame of regulation remained scoreless as the Denver Cutthroats were able to hold the Brampton Beast to only two goals, defeating them 5-2. This is the Cutthroats fourth consecutive win, making them undefeated in the month of March. Denver's record now stands at 30-15-10.
The Denver Cutthroats and Brampton Beast will wrap up the three-game series on Monday, March 10 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario at 7:00 PM EST.
